Confirmation at last
I've just heard that Rick's reference finally came through, and our tenancy has been confirmed. Just in time to send out the change of address notifications with one week's notice. Phew.

Thanks for the ideas for de-weeding. It's nice to know that there are 'non-nuclear' options for dealing with the problem.
I should have mention black polythene too - cover the weeds up and starve them of light and water - they'll die. Hopefully, no seeds in the soil will sprout up either - if you cover the ground for long enough
Good point. On a similar theme, I had suggested covering the drive with old carpet - but Rick thought the neighbours might disapprove. Instead, he's planning to find some combats and a long wig and play out front with a flamethrower. :)
